Practice Owner, Veterinarian
Dr. Antunano was very young when his passion for animal care was first ignited. Goats used to wander near his childhood home, and Dr. Antunano would often bring them home and care for them as if they were his own pets. As he got older, one choice of career simply made sense; Dr. Antunano wanted to care for animals professionally as a veterinarian. His dream never wavered!
>p>Dr. Antunano is originally from New York City, where he began his collegiate career at Herbert Lehman College for his undergraduate studies before attending veterinary school. After working as an Associate Veterinarian for several years in a high-volume Long Island practice, as well as serving as an emergency and critical care doctor and even performing relief services, Dr. Antunano decided to open his own veterinary hospital. That’s when he relocated to Florida and opened the Animal Medical Center here in Valrico. In 1997, Dr. Antunano and his staff moved to a new 5,000-sqaure-foot facility where the clinic currently stands—he’s been helping the area’s pets and animal parents here ever since!
Medically, Dr. Antunano enjoys surgical work and loves the way the clinic’s laser technology helps him to perform procedures. He’s also passionate about wildlife care—Dr. Antunano has literally treated lions, tigers, and bears! Most of all, he loves to meet and greet the area’s pets and animal parents on a daily basis.
At home, Dr. Antunano has two pets: Nacho, a vocal cat who is the true ruler of the house; and Satie Boy, a 110-pound Doberman who is the epitome of the gentle giant. When he isn’t doting on his own pets or tending to companions here at the clinic, Dr. Antunano loves working on fast cars. He’s especially proud of his 1971 Corvette, which he’s owned since the car was brand new!
