Dan King
Veterinary Technician
Dan stumbled into the veterinary world entirely by accident, but he couldn’t be happier to have found a career path he loves. While supporting his fiancé through school to become a Certified Veterinary Technician herself, he was approached to help out at the practice she worked with—Dan became a Kennel Assistant and immediately started learning the ropes of the profession. Now, 15 years later, Dan is proud to help animals hands-on as a Veterinary Technician!

Dan is originally from Hollywood, Florida and previously worked in the field of antique restoration. After securing his first position in a veterinary clinic, he worked his way up the ladder to a Veterinary Assistant position, and is now a Veterinary Technician.

Dan joined the Animal Medical Center team after moving to Valrico from St. Augustine, and he’s been tending to the pets and animal parents of this area ever since. Around the clinic, he enjoys the challenge of performing blood draws and placing IV lines. His favorite part of every shift is seeing the great relief that he and his team are able to provide for patients and families. Being able to make a true difference is what it’s all about for Dan!

Away from work, Dan is a fan of science and loves tinkering with electronic equipment. He has one pet of his own at home: Quinn, a snowshoe cat who likes to strum Dan’s guitar to wake him up in the mornings.
Jim Antunano
Practice Manager
For Jim, veterinary medicine has always been a family affair—he’s Dr. Antunano’s son! He had a pet at home ever since the day he was born, and he truly can’t remember a time when he didn’t want to do everything in his power to help all of the animals he possibly could. Jim gets to live his dream every day as the Practice Manager here at the Animal Medical Center.

Jim grew up in Westchester County, New York and worked in the state for nearly 10 years in a different career field. He started to realize he wasn’t truly happy with his work, and started to look for a new opportunity after he and his wife had their first baby. The pair moved to Florida, and Jim enrolled in college at the University of South Florida to receive his Bachelor’s degree. He relocated to the Valrico area in August of 2000 and joined his father here at the Animal Medical Center. Jim has been serving the area’s pets and animal owners ever since!

Jim and his wife, Lynda of nearly 30 years have two terrific grown sons, and they share their home with two young Dobermans: Sampson, who is just over a year old, and Sampson’s biological sister, Eva. When he isn’t spending quality time with his family and pets or helping things run smoothly here at the clinic, Jim loves to cheer on his beloved New York Yankees and Giants. Every World Series or Super Bowl win is a cherished memory!
Madison was always struck by the miracle stories she heard about animals and the people who care for them. She’s always wanted to better the lives of others, and she can’t remember a time when she didn’t adore pets. Why not help animals and their owners at the same time by working in the veterinary field? Now, Madison is a receptionist with the Animal Medical Center team!

Madison was born and raised in Toronto, Canada, and moved here to Florida with her family over 10 years ago. She’s currently enrolled in the University of South Florida to study biological health science, and plans to continue on to a career in the healthcare field in the future. Madison joined the Animal Medical Center family in the spring of 2018, and she’s been here ever since!

When she has a spare moment between work and her school studies, Madison likes finding time to work out at the gym and spend time at home with her family and pets. She and her family have one dog: Blitzen, a protective West Highland White Terrier/Pomeranian mix who will do almost anything for a treat.
Katherine got into the field of animal care for one simple reason: she’s always wanted to do her part to give something back to the pets who have given her so much over the years. She likes to think that she gets as much from the clinic’s patients as they get from her! Katherine is a proud member of the Animal Medical Center’s talented front-desk team.

Katherine is a native Floridian and comes from a retail and call-center background. She also served as an insurance agent prior to joining the team here at the hospital. Katherine knew that she wanted to get out of offices and cubicles, but she also wanted to use her people skills to better the lives of others—when she came across an opening at a veterinary clinic, she jumped at her chance! Katherine started with the hospital team in April of 2017.

Away from the office, Katherine is an avid crafter and loves making most of the holiday presents she gives to family and friends. She even made most of the decorations and bouquets for her wedding! Katherine and her husband, David, share their lives with several pets at home. They have three dogs—Fenway, a mixed breed pooch named for her parents’ love of the Boston Red Sox; a goofy Labrador Retriever named Pepper who adores the water; and Petunia, a Boston Terrier who comes to work with Katherine most days—as well as four cats named Snarf, Grimlock, Bowser, and Newton.
Rhonda Pelazzo
Rhonda has been an animal lover all of her life, and she’s now been a professional groomer for more than two decades. For her, nothing beats helping a pet look and feel their absolute best! Rhonda is proud to help the area’s animal companions as a member of the Animal Medical Center family.

Rhonda is originally from Boca Raton and recently relocated to Riverview. She’s been working as a pet groomer for more than 20 years, even owning her own grooming boutique for 10 years. When she visited Animal Medical Center and heard that the grooming salon was going to reopen, she jumped at the chance to join the team!
Rhonda has been lending her talents to the pet owners of the area ever since.

Much of Rhonda’s spare time is spent helping animals as well. She donates a lot of time to local animal shelters—for her, the ultimate reward is helping discarded or surrendered dogs get adopted out to loving homes. Rhonda has two pets of her own at home: a pair of Yorkshire Terriers named Mia and Nico, who love going for walks and getting shuttled around town in their personal stroller.
